Good Governance Africa (GGA), a not-for-profit company committed to improving governance performance across the continent, is pleased to announce the appointment of Deji Haastrup to its Board of Directors.

Deji is a well-respected communications specialist, author, social philosopher and passionate advocate for good governance in Africa.

He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organisation, which will greatly enhance GGA’s efforts to promote better stewardship of Africa and its resources in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and across the continent.

GGA SADC Executive Director Chris Maroleng says: “Deji’s unique combination of skills will help GGA fulfil its mandate to guide governments to adopt sensible growth-enhancing policies and empower citizens to hold their governments to account.

“His depth of knowledge of the continent and its place in the world will also play a critical role in guiding the private sector to become responsible development partners and help the international community understand that a thriving Africa is what the entire world needs.”

Deji is a graduate of the universities of Ibadan and Lagos, with a Masters in Communication Arts. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in General Management and Leadership from Columbia Graduate Business School, New York. He has received numerous professional awards throughout his career, including the United States Government (USG) Special Achievement Award, USG Meritorious Service Awards, and Chevron Corporation Chairman’s Award.

Deji has lived and worked in North and South America, Europe, and Africa. He is the author of three published books of non-fiction.
