Dr. Dereje Tesema
Dereje Tesema holds a PhD in Social Work and Social Welfare Studies from Ghent University, Belgium, focusing on internal migration and displacement. With over 10 years of working with governmental and non-governmental organisations, he accumulated extensive expertise in research, project management and practices, in areas of migration, climate change and meaningful civic engagement. Working with research institutions such as the United Nations University-CRIS and Royal Tropical Institute (KIT), Dereje contributed to research projects and published research outputs. Before joining GGA-HoA, he was a lecturer and researcher at Jimma University, Addis Ababa, where he taught development sociology and spearheaded several community service initiatives. Currently, Dereje serves as an Associate Programme Officer at Good Governance Africa-Horn of Africa Regional Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
